The Madras University, known as the University of Madras, was founded in 1840 with George Norton as Chancellor. After 14 years of constitutional law, the Indian government established a systematic education policy in 1854, which led to the establishment of universities. Madras University is considered to be the mother of all ancient universities in South India. The University of Madras is recognized by UGC as one of the 'Potential' institutions in the country and is accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC.
The University of Madras expanded its distance-learning campus in 1981 with the motto of helping students achieve their career goals. The institute offers 22 undergraduate programs, 14 graduate programs, 9 graduate science programs, 5 professional programs, 16 diploma programs, and 12 certificate programs. IDEs assist students unable to study full-time with the aim of creating perspectives for better access to education, thereby enhancing the intellectual achievements of people in different segments of society.

ADMISSION
Madras University Distance Education Admissions:
The University of Madras University Distance Education Admissions Window draws UG, PG Degree, Diploma, PG Diploma, and Certificate level programs. Individuals have numerous options available such as BA Tamil, BA English, MCOM, MCA, PGDCS, and DLL.
The University of Madras invites applicants to complete the application for admission using the online registration portal. Entry is open to Indian citizens only. The submitted online application must be printed and sent along with the original by registered mail to the Distance Learning Institute. The University of Madras will confirm admission after matching the submitted information with the original documents.
Madras University Distance Education UG Admissions:
MU UG DE registration will be opened for BA Tamil, BA Literature, BCOM, BCOM Corporate Secretary ship, BBA, BCA, BSC, etc. The MU UG application form can be collected/downloaded together with the INR 224 prospectus.
The cost of the online UG application including GST is INR 236. Confirmation of admission to the Madras UG program will be sent by post/SMS.
Madras University Distance Education PG Admissions:
A graduate program student will be offered courses such as her MA, M.Sc, MCA, M.Com, MBA, and MFA for the new admissions session. Completion of a Ph.D./Bachelor's degree is a prerequisite for admission to the Master's degree.
MA and MSc courses have specializations for students to choose from. Students seeking admission to the MCA or MBA programs must pass an entrance examination administered by the university. The rest of PG's other courses are covered by credit points.
The master's program is two years. Applicants must have a recognized university degree in the field they wish to specialize in. The average tuition fee for a master's degree is Rs 12,450.

- Applications should be completed in blue or black ballpoint pen on a black pad.
- Please attach the required documents and submit them.

Madras University Distance Education Courses and specialization
Madras University's IDE provides 65 degrees. The University of Madras offers Bachelor, Bachelor of Science, BCA, B.Com, MA, Masters, MCA, M.Com, MBA, and more. UG courses are performance oriented.
